Almost a year ago I met with fellow artist Luke Haynes to discuss the possibility of a collaboration piece.
Luke and I had been mutual admirers of each others work for a few years and kept in touch sporadically on social media. In 2014, as I began to expand my Fabric of Life series, I started to think about fabric itself. I instantly thought of Luke and his unique style.
I contacted him and asked if he had ever quilted paper before and if he would be interested in a collaboration. He had not, and he was!
In April of 2014 we met in person for the first time to discuss the collaboration. After that meeting we had a basic concept in mind and knew what the dimensions would be.
In the fall of 2014 I began creating panels for Luke. In January 2015, I went down to Los Angeles and delivered Luke 9, 29″ x 40″ panels (3 red, three yellow and three cyan) totaling 10,440 sq inches of paper. He is now in the process of adding his signature style. Stay tuned for more…
